Contact has been established between Russia and Azerbaijan at all levels regarding the tragedy of the Azerbaijani plane crash, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said at a briefing today, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
She noted that the Azerbaijani plane crash is also a tragic incident for Russia: "Our presidents have had two telephone conversations. Our foreign ministers have held discussions. Investigative bodies must be working closely together. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted during his annual press conference, a comprehensive analysis of the incident is being conducted, considering all facts and factors."
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that everyone needs the truth about the accident: "We all need the truth. I believe that every Azerbaijani citizen needs the truth, and I can say that our country needs this truth no less. Now it is essential to unite efforts to uncover this truth."
Zakharova also stated that attempts to massively influence the investigation through destructive purposes via the media, messengers, and social networks have been observed: "One example is a letter allegedly addressed to Azerbaijani diplomats on behalf of Sergey Lavrov, circulating on networks. We have denied this. I would like to emphasize once again that this 'fake' was crafted in fairly decent English. Who is behind this? Who benefits from it? I think it serves those who aim to harm the allied relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, as well as those who are systematically destroying European aviation logistics."
Note that on December 25 last year, an AZAL passenger plane operating the Baku-Grozny flight crashed near Aktau, resulting in 38 fatalities and 29 survivors.
