Ankara hosts Türkiye-Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Business Forum

The business forum was held with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Trade, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy, and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, as well as a joint organization of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) and the Investment Promotion Agency of Uzbekistan.

The event saw the participation of around 200 entrepreneurs from all three countries, operating in sectors such as construction, tobacco, food industry, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, tourism, textiles, industry, logistics, etc.

Key attendees included the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Trade of Türkiye Omer Bolat, and the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov.

The forum provided insights into the development of Azerbaijan's relations with Türkiye and Uzbekistan, highlighting potential joint projects.

It was noted that the leadership of the heads of state is further strengthening mutual partnership relations against the backdrop of geopolitical processes in the region. The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) plays a significant role in enhancing cooperation between the countries. The Digital Economy Partnership Agreement signed at the 11th OTS Summit, the Karabakh Declaration from the informal Summit of the heads of state, and the Turkish Investment Fund are pivotal in bolstering strategic and economic relations.

I was also mentioned that Türkiye has invested substantially in the Azerbaijani economy, and investment cooperation between the two countries is expanding. Azerbaijani investors are also keen to participate in a unified ecosystem for their countries, with Azerbaijan investing up to $20 billion in the Turkish economy.

Moreover, Turkish companies were invited to be more active in the reconstruction of the liberated Azerbaijani territories and to benefit from the provided incentives.

The forum emphasized the gradual increase in Azerbaijan's trade turnover with Uzbekistan and the rise in transport and transit traffic along the Middle Corridor. Eight projects are currently being developed through the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company, which has a capital of $500 million.

The opening of the Mirza Ulugbek school in the Fuzuli district, Azerbaijan, a gift to Karabakh from the President of Uzbekistan on behalf of the Uzbek people, and the opening of a sewing factory in Khankandi are seen as true examples of brotherhood between the countries and peoples.

The forum discussed opportunities for strengthening economic unity between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, enhancing the effectiveness of business partnerships, expanding trade relations, and promoting important investment projects for the countries and the region.

The event continued with B2B meetings.
