Syria's leader Ahmed al-Sharaa has received Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, APA reports citing foreign media.
This was Saudi Arabian top diplomat's first visit since president Bashar al-Assad's ouster. The last time bin Farhan was in Damascus, in April 2023, he met Assad in a landmark visit that ended more than a decade of strained relations.
Syria's new leadership is eager for Saudi investment to help rebuild the country's war-shattered infrastructure and boost its economy.
Earlier this month, bin Farhan called for lifting sanctions on Damascus after meetings with top diplomats from the Middle East and Europe on Syria.
