Farid Safarli has been returned within the framework of a reciprocal procedure, APA reports.
Yesterday, the sudden mass sharing activity by a troll army controlled by certain foreign circles on Facebook pages did not escape the attention of most social media users and media organizations.
Thus, following the joint statement by the State Security Service (SSS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) regarding Farid Safarli's return to the homeland, numerous fake profiles, all newly created and of unknown origin, began flooding Facebook pages that shared this news with comments containing "identical words."
The comments mainly state that “despite Farid Safarli’s involvement in espionage, he was treated well in the country where he was detained and, undeservedly, was returned to Azerbaijan.”
According to information obtained from his relatives, Farid Safarli, a student in Germany who was imprisoned for two years in Iran, was not returned unconditionally, instead, he was exchanged for an Iranian spy detained in Azerbaijan, reflecting the high value Azerbaijan places on its citizens. As noted in the official statement by Azerbaijani state bodies, this was carried out within the framework of a reciprocal procedure.
Therefore, it would be wise for the opportunistic and incompetent technologists, who attempt ideological interference in the Azerbaijani segment of social networks with countless trolls without understanding the Azerbaijani environment, to realize how ridiculous they appear in the eyes of the Azerbaijani people with such comments.
