"The Armenia-Iran border has always been calm. There has never been a problem there," Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov following their talks, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, the Armenia-Iran border will remain even more peaceful from now on.
"As for the CSTO, we have very serious and strong bilateral relations with Russia. We are truly allies. We have very good, friendly neighborly and partnership relations with Iran. Russia also has very good partnership relations with Iran. I believe our countries will benefit from these collaborations."
Mirzoyan also spoke about the withdrawal of Russian border guards from the Armenia-Iran border: "As for the Russian border guards, I would like to remind you that in the early days of Armenia's independence, at our request, Russian border guards were temporarily involved in securing the Armenia-Iran border. After the duration ended, we thanked the Russian side and informed them that we could now secure the border with Iran with our own forces. I believe there is no basis for a major political scandal here."
