Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba announced his intention to conclude a peace treaty with Russia

Japan intends to conclude a peace treaty with Russia, despite the fact that relations between the countries are going through difficult times, said Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, APA reports citing Pravda Japan.

"Japanese-Russian relations are in a difficult state, but our country will continue its course towards solving the territorial problem and concluding a peace treaty," he stressed.

At the same time, he has already voiced this wording in previous addresses to the parliament. So, in November 2024, Ishiba emphasized that the Japanese government hopes to conclude a peace treaty with Russia and finally "solve the problem with the northern territories."
