Geomagnetic storm forecasted today

Due to the impact of Coronal Mass Ejections that occurred on the Sun on January 21 and 22, there is a possibility of a G1 (weak) level geomagnetic storm this evening, Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory told APA.

It was stated that the combined effect of the CME is likely to cause the storm to rise to the G2 (medium) level. Their speed is 600 km/s, which is not that high.

Currently, the Sun is at the maximum of its 11-year active period. According to statistics, G1 level geomagnetic storms cover 900 days for one active period, and G2 level geomagnetic storms cover 360 days.

It was noted that space weather is currently calm.
