As of January 1, 2025, the state budget has planned expenditures in the amount of 1,295.6 million manat related to servicing the state debt and obligations, APA-Economics reports citing the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan.
Of the mentioned expenditures, 170.3 million manat (interest debt) was paid on the domestic state debt, and 1,125.2 million manat on the foreign state debt (850.0 million manat on the principal debt, 275.2 million manat on the interest debt), a total of 1,295.5 million manat, was paid.
Noted that the portion of the expenditures related to servicing the state debt planned in the 2024 state budget in the amount of 0.1 million manat (bank expenses) saved during the year was transferred to the “Guarantee Fund for Obligations on State Debt and Guarantees” in accordance with Article 13.2.4 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On State Debt”.
Taking into account the operational information provided on the use of funds within the framework of projects that continue to be implemented through external borrowing and the principal payments on external public debt, the level of external public debt as of January 1, 2025 is 5 billion 160 million US dollars, or 6.9 percent of GDP for 2024.
